Parsnip's Story
Parsnip, a fluffy wire hair fox terrier, was an endearing and cheeky "tatty teddy bear" who, despite her quiet nature, wore a little cat bell as a tell-tale sign of her playful spirit. Her deep loyalty shone brightest as she held on for weeks after a loved one's major surgery, faithfully sharing morning tea and resting her head on a lap, a cherished ritual brought by her devoted dad. Though she slipped away in a loved one's absence, her spirit lives on, with her daughter and granddaughter even catching a glimpse of her playing joyfully in the clouds with her old mate, Pinky, a comforting reassurance that all is "alright."

Verse 1
When first we met, a little wire-haired queen,
So quiet, so cheeky, rarely ever seen
Without your tiny cat bell, a soft, ringing chime,
My fluffy tatty teddy bear, for all of time.
A fun and loving spirit, wild and free,
A terrier's bright sparkle, for all to see.
You brought such joy and laughter, day by day,
Chasing shadows, always ready to play.
Chorus
Oh, Parsnip, dear Parsnip, through sun and through rain,
Thirteen and a half years, easing every pain.
Your memory a bright light, a joy in my heart,
A celebration of love, right from the start.
Verse 2
When times were tough, and my body felt weak,
Your patient heart knew just the comfort I'd seek.
Twelve weeks you waited, after my surgery's plight,
My husband would bring you, a morning's pure light.
You'd rest your sweet head softly upon my lap's ease,
Then finish my tea, a memory to please.
A daily ritual, gentle and so true,
A bond of understanding, just me and you.
Chorus
Oh, Parsnip, dear Parsnip, through sun and through rain,
Thirteen and a half years, easing every pain.
Your memory a bright light, a joy in my heart,
A celebration of love, right from the start.
Bridge
"Thank you so much for all our precious years,
You left when I wasn't there, to save me the tears.
But I know that you heard me, my heart's loving plea,
And showed me 'it's alright,' how to let you be.
You taught me how to say goodbye, to set you free."
Instrumental
Ukulele solo
Final Chorus
Oh, Parsnip, dear Parsnip, through sun and through rain,
Thirteen and a half years, easing every pain.
Your memory a bright light, a joy in my heart,
A celebration of love, right from the start.
Outro
Though I was away, my daughter was there,
With granddaughter beside her, a comfort to share.
They saw you in clouds, with Pinky, your friend,
A playful reunion, that will never end.
A photo they captured, of joy in the sky,
Sweet Parsnip, forever, you'll never truly die.
Outro - glockenspiel fade
