Holmes-z
9 years beautiful crazy years of love
Holmes-z's Story
From the moment Holmes-z, a 90-pound Bulldog Cur Hound, wobbled to your feet as a puppy and claimed you as his person, he found his permanent place in your lap and heart. He was a constant companion, from watching TV by your side to "knocking" at the door to come in, always ready to offer a comforting, human-like hug when tears fell. His velvet ears and sweet nose always sought a smooch, leaving behind a profound emptiness where his loving presence once filled every corner of your world.

Intro - acoustic guitar, harmonica
Verse 1
At just four weeks old, you found your way to me
A little puppy wobbling, for all the world to see
You low-growled at the others, then settled at my feet
And from that moment, Holmes-z, my world felt so complete.
You whined until my lap became your rightful place to be
A ninety-pound hound, my constant company.
You stayed right by my side, through every passing year
And passed away at my feet, holding back a tear.
Chorus
Oh, Holmes-z, my buddy, my beautiful wild boy
Nine crazy years of laughter, comfort, and pure joy.
You were my constant shadow, my heartbeat, true and deep
A love like ours, my sweet boy, I will forever keep.
Verse 2
With personality so large, you always made me smile
You'd sit and watch the TV, for quite a little while.
Then storms would rage outside, and you'd hide in my lap so tight
While I'd wrap my arms around you, to make the world feel right.
Your nose would nudge up close, for any little snack
And a scratch at the door, never turning your back.
No barks, just gentle knocks, a signature so grand
You knew just how to ask for a helping hand.
Chorus
Oh, Holmes-z, my buddy, my beautiful wild boy
Nine crazy years of laughter, comfort, and pure joy.
You were my constant shadow, my heartbeat, true and deep
A love like ours, my sweet boy, I will forever keep.
Verse 3
You'd roll upon the carpet, to scratch your back with glee
Before you'd get your dinner, for everyone to see.
You'd rest your big head gently, upon the laundry pile
Then stand and watch the mail lady, waiting for a while.
When tears would fill my eyes, you'd crawl up to my chest
A human hug you'd give me, putting worries to the test.
Your velvet ears, your square nose smooch, a love that never fades
And hearts around your tail, in sun-kissed light and shades.
Chorus
Oh, Holmes-z, my buddy, my beautiful wild boy
Nine crazy years of laughter, comfort, and pure joy.
You were my constant shadow, my heartbeat, true and deep
A love like ours, my sweet boy, I will forever keep.
Bridge
My heart is truly broken, my joy has gone away
This empty house feels hollow, with each and every day.
I hope you and dear Watson, are together now once more
Running free with no limp, waiting at that golden door.
Chase all the squirrels and rabbits, beneath the golden sun
Tell Pappy and Nanny our stories, until my race is run.
Instrumental - acoustic guitar, banjo
Final Chorus
Oh, Holmes-z, my buddy, my beautiful wild boy
Nine crazy years of laughter, comfort, and pure joy.
You were my constant shadow, my heartbeat, true and deep
A love like ours, my sweet boy, I will forever keep.
Outro - harmonica, acoustic guitar fade
Now on those streets of gold, you bark and bay at will
Watching for me and poppa, my sweet boy, stand still.
You're everything, my companion, my constant, loving friend
I love you, my sweet boy, until the very end.
Outro - acoustic guitar fade
