Dexter's Story
Sweet French bulldog Dexter had a cherished morning ritual; after breakfast with his dad, he'd gently open the bathroom door for kisses before playfully trying to follow his person to work. He was always an excited presence waiting at the door upon their return, ready with joyful greetings that made every day feel brighter. On special Friday mornings, he'd lovingly bump noses, then scratch his way under the blankets to nap beside them, his gentle snores a constant comfort.

Verse 1
A sweet baby boy, in the morning's soft gleam,
You'd finish your breakfast, a cherished daily dream.
Then push through my barn door, just to say hello,
A gentle wet nose kiss, a loving soft glow.
As I'd leave for my day, you'd try to come along,
My husband would hold you, where you truly belong.
Then home from my work, you'd wait by the door,
With brother and sister, asking for more.
Chorus
Oh, Dexter, my darling, my sweet baby boy,
For one year and four months, you brought so much joy.
You made me feel loved, beyond all compare,
My heart holds your paw print, a bond we still share.
Verse 2
On Fridays at home, a special delight,
You'd share dad's warm breakfast, then seek out my light.
Your little nose nudging, a soft morning kiss,
Then scratch at the blanket, pure snuggling bliss.
You'd burrow beneath it, right next to my side,
Your soft gentle snore, nowhere to hide.
We'd sleep in for hours, a quiet warm nest,
Then wake me with kisses, the very best.
Chorus
Oh, Dexter, my darling, my sweet baby boy,
For one year and four months, you brought so much joy.
You made me feel loved, beyond all compare,
My heart holds your paw print, a bond we still share.
Bridge
My heart aches with sorrow, for not being there,
If time could be turned back, beyond all repair.
I'd cherish each moment, and hold you so tight,
And make sure I was home, both morning and night.
I love you with all, my whole beating heart.
Instrumental - piano, strings
Final Chorus
Oh, Dexter, my darling, my sweet baby boy,
For one year and four months, you brought so much joy.
You made me feel loved, beyond all compare,
My heart holds your paw print, a bond we still share.
Outro
Now you're playing with friends, so naughty and free,
Picking up dropped socks, for all eyes to see.
With toys and with Marshall, sweet tales you both spin,
Talking of mommy, where your soft dreams begin.
Outro - piano fade
