Stubby's Story

Stubby, the charming Dachshund/Boston Terrier, often announced his presence with the gentle click of his nails before burrowing deep into blankets, his tiny back legs adorably peeking out. Bedtime was a cherished ritual, as he'd carefully choose between his three beds or his momma's, always wanting to be close, even when he could no longer jump onto her bed. One can almost still see him curled up in his favorite warm, sunny spot on the front yard sidewalk, a peaceful place where Tashi kitty often rests, just as she did by his side.

Lyrics

Remember when your tiny nails would click upon the floor,

A gentle sound that echoed through our open door.

Beneath your blankets, nestled deep and warm,

Your little back legs peeking out, safe from any storm.

A mixed-up pup, part Dachshund, part Boston sweet,

With burrowing ways and quick, endearing feet.

You’d find your spot, a cozy, hidden space,

Leaving love and comfort in your every trace.

Oh, Stubby, my sweet boy, it's been twelve years gone by,

A loyal heart beneath a loving sky.

Though silent now, your paw prints softly stay,

You light my path and guide me every day.

Each evening, after treats and potty time was done,

You'd make your choice beneath the setting sun.

Which bed to pick, you'd ponder with a sigh,

Mine or your own, as gentle moments drifted by.

For years you'd jump up, close beside my head,

Until old age kept you in your own warm bed.

But still, I saw you, snuggled by my side,

My little shadow, where my heart could safely hide.

Oh, Stubby, my sweet boy, it's been twelve years gone by,

A loyal heart beneath a loving sky.

Though silent now, your paw prints softly stay,

You light my path and guide me every day.

Thank you, Stubby, for always being there for me,

I'll miss you deeply, for all eternity.

Until I find you, Winston, and the girls, too,

A treat party awaits beneath skies of blue,

Then we'll take a nap, warmed by the gentle sun,

Our loving journey, forever truly one.

Oh, Stubby, my sweet boy, it's been twelve years gone by,

A loyal heart beneath a loving sky.

Though silent now, your paw prints softly stay,

You light my path and guide me every day.

Now you rest in sunshine, where the warmth gently gleams,

On the front yard sidewalk, lost in peaceful dreams.

With Tashi kitty, sometimes close beside your spot,

A quiet memory, never to be forgot.
