Oakley's Story
Oakley, a spirited Vizsla, would greet every return with his whole body shaking with pure excitement, a joyful welcome that never faded. He cherished early morning hikes, pausing thoughtfully to watch the sunrise, a shared moment of peace and loyalty that brought immense joy. More than a companion, he was a best friend whose unconditional love and encouragement helped his human find strength again, and now he runs free in fields of gold with Little Anne.

Verse 1
Remember when you first came through the door
A Vizsla pup, we couldn't ask for more
Your whole body would shake right to your tail
A joyful greeting that would never fail
A happy bark, a wagging, hopeful plea
The purest love you always showed to me
With shining coat and eyes so warm and deep
A promise in your heart you'd always keep
Chorus
Oh, Oakley, my sweet boy, you're free
Six years and a half, a gift to me
In every memory, you still remain
Washing away the sorrow and the pain
Verse 2
Those early mornings, sun beginning to glow
We'd hit the trails, watching the day grow
You'd run ahead, a blur of golden grace
Then pause and turn, a smile upon your face
You'd look back at me, as the light would climb
Sharing quiet moments, lost in time
Together watching, spirits soaring high
Beneath the vast and endless morning sky
Chorus
Oh, Oakley, my sweet boy, you're free
Six years and a half, a gift to me
In every memory, you still remain
Washing away the sorrow and the pain
Verse 3
Beyond our home, your gentle spirit shone
A comforting presence, never alone
You were "Everybody's Dog," in every space
Bringing comfort with your loving grace
From classroom visits to the lonely heart
You played a healing, vital part
Dispelling shadows, chasing out the gloom
Your loyal spirit, always in bloom
Bridge
You were our best friend, a truth so clear and true
Bringing joy and unconditional love anew
Your loyalty a steadfast, guiding hand
I wouldn't be walking if you hadn't helped me stand
Harmonica Solo

Now you're running free, in fields of endless gold
With Little Anne, a story to be told
Forever chasing sunlight, light and fast
Your loving spirit, meant to always last
